IDHUB Attribute Categories

Attribute categories are parent groups of categories. For example home and work might be different categories of user attributes where a user can specify their home address and their work address.

Creating a New Category

This operation allows the Administrator to create a new category

  • Click User Attributes under Administration
  • Click Create under Actions
  • Click sub tab Manage Categories
  • Fill in the name of the New Category for field Create New Category, and click on the Plus (+) sign adjacent to the field (this adds the new category to the list of existing categories)
  • Select the newly created category from the list of drop down items for field Category under pane Create New User Attribute
  • Fill in data for the Name and Display Name fields and click button Save & Close (with this operation, User is creating a new Attribute under the newly created Category from bullet point 4 above, and the newly created Category only get saved once it has an Attribute linked to it)

Possible Alerts that can be encountered during this operation

If User uses any character(s) which does not fall within the permitted characters for the Category field and clicks on Save & Close, then an alert message will show underneath this field saying Invalid Value(s)

  1. First Rule - The starting/first character for the Category field should fall within these set of characters (a-z A-Z _ )
  2. Second Rule - The second and any subsequent characters for the Category field should fall within these set of characters (0-9 a-z A-Z)

Deleting Existing Category

This operation allows the Administrator to Delete an existing Category that has no User Attributes linked to it

  • Click User Attributes under Configuration
  • Delete all User Attributes associated or linked to the Category that you want to delete(Refer to steps above for Deleting User Attribute
  • Do this for all other attributes under this Category – Deleting the last attribute will automatically delete the Category)

Possible Alerts that can be encountered during this operation

User will be informed via an alert message at the bottom of page that There are still Attribute with subtype... (name of Attribute) if User attempts to delete a Category that have Attributes linked to it.
